F.A.Q.

All our meat is packed and delivered inside recyclable / reusable brown boxes. The boxes are lined and insulated
with environmentally friendly natural sheep’s wool and ice packs to ensure maximum freshness.

Packed fresh or frozen

Wherever possible we prefer to supply our meat blast frozen for the following reasons:

Freezing at the point of cutting preserves the freshness, colour, texture, flavour and nutritional value of the meat.

Meat tends to lose fluids quickly when cut thus draining taste and tenderness, instant freezing prevents this.

Freezing is the best preservative – no E-numbers required.

Blast freezing seals in the goodness naturally.

It is a myth that frozen food of this quality tastes different to fresh – taste for yourself!

Always thaw meat out properly before cooking e.g. a joint should thaw out slowly in the fridge overnight.

What is Blast Freezing?

The Blast Freeze process requires that food be reduced from a temperature of +20ºC to –3ºC in no more than 240 minutes. It maintains food quality - colour, texture, flavour, structure and nutritional value are all locked in.

Delicate food surfaces are protected as rapid chilling stops an “ice skin” forming which otherwise dehydrates and damages the products’ appearance.

Blast freezing also helps to keep the food looking good. The slower the food freezes, the larger the ice crystals formed; large ice crystals can damage food, dry it out and break down the physical structure leaving you with an unrecognisable product.

Damaging bacteria is rendered dormant.

Packaging

All our goods are securely packed and delivered inside recyclable / reusable brown boxes. The boxes are lined and insulated with environmentally friendly natural sheep’s wool and ice packs to ensure maximum freshness.

All our meat is vacuum packed, except our sausages, which are tray sealed. The packing ensures that the quality of the meat is maintained whether it is shipped fresh or frozen for future use.

We can arrange delivery anywhere in the UK

Delivery

Orders are dispatched once a week on a Wednesday to arrive on the Thursday (unless changed by prior arrangement when ordered). The weekly cut off point for orders is 5.00pm each Monday.

All of our boxes and hampers are sent by courier - when you place your order it is very important that you specify instructions for our driver should you happen to be out when your meat box is delivered. This could be an alternative delivery address such as a neighbour, or safe place to leave your meat box such as a porch or garage.

We will email or telephone you the evening before to confirm delivery.
